Whilst on the subject of new stores opening, Gareth Pugh has finally opened his first store, half-way across the world. In Hong Kong. The boutique runs alongside designers such as Ann Demeulemeester and Comme des Garcons on Ice House Street which is populated with other luxury brands such as Margiela and Gucci. Gareth Pugh's gothic style is integral in his store, with no window display the store remains mysterious but striking as the building is layered in thick black rubber paint. With no bid to entice customers with lavish window-displays, Gareth Pugh remains true to form and striking in his 'black box'. The store contains an LED screen which will be used to show various films created between himself and Ruth Hogben. Gareth aims to include a live-streaming link from the internet to the LED screen with a camera, so audiences can see the work in Gareth Pugh's studio, even when shut. It seems like a truly unique and futuristic shop; slightly frustrated that it is in Hong Kong! But, congratulations all the same.
